The Children’s Nutrition Program of Haiti Inc., a 501(c)3 non-profit based in Chattanooga, Tennessee with a 25-year history of saving lives and supporting generations of healthy families in Haiti, is currently seeking a dynamic and visionary CEO to lead the organization into the future. The CEO will serve as the global representative of the organization, embodying the core mission and values. This role demands a leader with strong fundraising capabilities, exceptional communication skills, and a committed and collaborative spirit to work with and develop the Board of Directors, the Haiti and US-based staff, and a diverse group of existing and new partners.

 

The CEO will report to the Board of Directors and will be responsible for setting the strategic direction, providing day-to-day leadership and assuring the financial sustainability of CNP Haiti. Equally important are responsibilities for overseeing and responding to the 35-person clinical and programmatic staff based in Leogane, Haiti, the US-based team (Program Director, Finance Director and Marketing and Development Director) and volunteers.

 

Top priorities include developing the short and long-term strategy for the organization to respond to the acute needs of Haitian children and families during the current crisis as well as reinforcing existing programs and networks that work to alleviate poverty, and strengthen the foundations of good health, nutrition, and wellbeing.

 

Responsibilities

 

Strategic vision and leadership

  • Lead the development, articulation and implementation of the organization’s strategy and long-term goals.
  • Collaborate closely with the board of directors in planning and executing the organizational strategy.
  • Provide inspirational leadership and direction to staff, both Haiti and US-based, under sometimes difficult circumstances and ensure the continued development and management of a professional and efficient organization.
  • Establish effective decision-making processes that will enable CNP Haiti to achieve its long- and short-term goals and objectives.

 

Development

  • Craft a fundraising, grant writing and development strategy with objectives, targets, and projected timelines.
  • Ensure there is funding necessary to meet the strategic plan and organizational objectives.
  • Maintain relationships with current individual and institutional donors and cultivate new relationships with supporters, foundations, government and institutional donors, and leaders within Chattanooga and across the nation.
  • Raise awareness of CNP’s work by serving as spokesperson and working with the Communications Director to engage multiple regional, national and international media outlets (social media, print, radio, TV) and groups (e.g. Haitian diaspora, Chattanooga community, faith-based organizations and congregations, networks of Haitian and public health donors).

 

Staff and board support

  • Support and motivate staff in the US and Haiti.
  • Engage with current and potential donors to secure funding and support for the mission and programs.
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration across the Program, Finance, and Development leads.
  • Work with the board chair and staff to plan board priorities and set agendas for full board and committee meetings.
  • Regularly report on organizational activities and progress.
  • Assist with board diversification and growth efforts to ensure a broad and inclusive representation.
  • Ensure that the budget reflects the organizational priorities.
  • Supervise and collaborate with US-based staff; specifically:
    • Work with the Program Director and Marketing and Development Director to improve organizational media presence and engage with current and potential partners and donors.
    • Work with the Finance Director on cash flow management, budget management and planning, and the annual audit.
    • Work closely with the Program Director to ensure program integrity, budgeting and support to the management of the Haiti-based staff.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, non-profit management, health and nutrition-related or allied fields is required; MPH or other relevant graduate degree is preferred
  • Evidence of progressive professional growth and experience, with several years of related leadership experience
  • Prior nonprofit experience and experience working with volunteers
  • Demonstrated ability to set clear priorities, delegate, and guide investment in people and systems
  • Proven track record of success in procuring high-dollar grant awards from governmental agencies and private foundations, and experience with submission of required progress reports
  • Proven track record of involvement in procurement of major gifts from corporations and/or private donors
  • Proven ability in fiscal management, including budgeting, oversight and supervision of preparation of financial statements, and communicating financial statements to the board
  • Board development, fundraising, marketing/branding experience
  • Experience working in a developing nation, specific knowledge of Haiti is preferred
  • Outstanding presentation and communication skills
  • Strong commitment to the professional development of staff
  • Successful track record of recruiting and retaining a diverse board

 

Salary and benefits

Salary is $100,000 with opportunity for increase upon successful resource development.  Flexible work schedule with hybrid or remote possibilities for the right candidate.  Group health plan.
