Role Description

We are currently seeking a Civil Inspector to perform inspection services on active utility and infrastructure restoration work. The role will focus on pavement restoration, test pit verification, water meter verification, pipeline restoration, and pipeline replacement activities. The inspector will ensure that construction work is completed in accordance with project specifications, applicable standards, and safety requirements.

Job Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive field inspections of residential properties to assess compliance with established standards and regulations.
• Monitor and inspect pavement and sidewalk restoration, pipeline replacement, and utility trench backfill activities.
• Inspect water meters, verifying meter size, location, and condition before and after construction.
• Conduct field inspections of test pits and utility corridors, ensuring compliance with approved plans.
• Ensure that as-built conditions and materials used on-site match contract specifications.
• Observe and document excavation, backfilling, compaction, and surface restoration processes.
• Track daily contractor activities, photograph site progress, and produce daily field reports.
• Coordinate with utility owners, subcontractors, and municipal representatives as needed.
• Identify and document non-conformance issues and verify the implementation of corrective actions.
• Monitor compliance with environmental, safety, and permitting requirements.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in construction, preferably in utility or municipal infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with trench restoration, pipe installation, compaction testing, and surface restoration procedures.
• Strong documentation skills, with proficiency in daily reporting and photo documentation.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and permit conditions.
• Reliable transportation and ability to travel to multiple field locations throughout the day.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working on municipal utility or water infrastructure projects.
• Working knowledge of public space restoration standards and local agency requirements.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, and inspection software).
