Job Description

Madison Avenue Couture is the leading online reseller of pristine Hermes handbags and accessories in the USA. We also carry a small collection of Chanel and other ultra-luxury pristine items. In addition to our website: madisonavenuecouture.com, we have showrooms in New York and Palm Beach. 

The Director of Business Development will be responsible for identifying new opportunities and building partner relationships that will increase our revenues and market share. The candidate will gain an understanding of the ultra luxury handbag resale market and create marketing campaigns and other outreach activities consistent with the company’s short- and long-term goals.

The Director of Business Development will work closely with the company’s sales, marketing and social media teams. This is a small organization and the ability to interface with all departments is critical for the success of this position.

This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze the market and identify new opportunities and partnerships and initiate outreach to the decision makers.
  • Monitor competition to identify windows of opportunities.
  • Identify target markets and develop strategies to reach out to key people in those markets.
  • In concert with the VP of Sales, develop plans for activations in our key markets.
  • Build and maintain relationships with existing clients and partners.
  • Negotiate contracts to secure business transactions.
  • Work with the VP of Sales and VP of Digital to develop presentations and proposals to potential partners.
  • Work with the Company’s public relations firm regarding initiatives.
  • Travel to and socialize with prospective partners in key markets.
  • Create and oversee the execution of activations in High Net Worth markets.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of business development strategies and initiatives and identify ways for improvement.
  • Develop and present weekly reports on existing business development activities and prospective initiative.
  • Ensure all communication is on brand and consistent with Company standards.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and at least 5 years’ experience in Business Development or Sales at an ultra-luxury brand.
  • Established relationships in key luxury markets preferred.
  • Experience working with High-Net-Worth Individuals a must.
  • Experience in activations and event planning.
  • Outstanding verbal and written skills.
  • Ability to self-manage, as well as to work with a team.
  • Excellent social and sales skills.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience with Salesforce a plus.
  • Knowledge of Shopify desired.
