Job Description

My client seeking an experienced General Manager to lead a Rochester, NY Distribution Center . In this key role, you will oversee all operations, including logistics, warehousing, customer service, and team management, ensuring that all functions meet performance goals related to safety, productivity, and quality. You'll manage a team of approximately 85 employees across various shifts, drive continuous improvement in operational efficiency, and foster a culture of safety, growth, and collaboration. Your leadership will be vital in optimizing workflows, meeting budget targets, and maintaining a high standard of service.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead & Develop Teams : Manage and mentor a team of managers and supervisors, providing guidance on strategy, performance, and operational improvements.
• Operational Excellence : Oversee all aspects of distribution, from inbound and outbound logistics to customer service and inventory control, ensuring streamlined operations across shifts.
• Safety and Compliance : Drive safety initiatives and ensure adherence to regulatory standards. Lead incident investigations and establish protocols to minimize risks.
• Financial Oversight : Assist in budget management, cost analysis, and resource planning, ensuring financial targets are met without compromising operational efficiency.
• Continuous Improvement : Implement best practices to boost productivity and streamline processes, while constantly seeking ways to reduce costs and improve service levels.
• Training & Development : Champion a culture of continuous learning by facilitating training programs that build skills and empower employees to reach their potential.

Skills & Requirements

• Proven Leadership : A track record of managing teams in a distribution environment, with strong skills in motivating and developing staff to meet organizational objectives.
• Operational Expertise : Solid experience with warehouse and logistics management, inventory systems, and transportation coordination.
• Technology Proficiency : Familiarity with warehouse management systems (e.g., JD Edwards), Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and labor management systems.
• Safety Knowledge : In-depth understanding of safety regulations and the ability to enforce OSHA, DOT, and FMCSA standards within a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Education : Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business, logistics, or a related field.
• Experience : At least 5 years of leadership experience within distribution center operations, covering logistics, warehousing, customer service, and team management.
