Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for the development, implementation, and coordination of the Health Delivery System and ensuring compliance in all Health Education issues as dictated by ACF and prevailing State and Federal laws.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitors the health services in the centers to assure compliance with federal guidelines and local and state health regulations.
  • Develop and maintain a health education referral service.
  • Assures that each staff member receives required annual health training.
  • Coordinates with Family Advocate Staff to ensure that each child receives medical/dental services including screenings, tests, examinations, and follow-ups and has required immunizations.
  • Provides/secures technical assistance and guidance to staff and parents on Health Education issues.
  • Monitors Child Plus to ensure all enrolled children are receiving the required services as scheduled.
  • Provides/secures training and technical assistance to Family Advocates and Center Directors to ensure delivery of services.
  • Develop and update annual Content Area Written Plans and Program of Work.
  • Work as part of the Head Start Support Service Team for successful component integration.
  • Keeps abreast of all community health issues and provides education and guidance as needed.
  • This position requires frequent travel to offsite locations.
  • Other related duties as requested to meet the goals of the program.


WORKING CONDITIONS:

The environment is varied to include the Head Start Support office, Head Start Centers, and various Community Resources. Must be mobile and agile to perform required tasks such as lifting up to forty-five (45) pounds, reaching above the head and below the knee, or positioning body as to be on child’s level and floor level. Must be able to bend, stop, kneel, crouch, and able to run or walk hurriedly for a child’s safety.


QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • LPN or BA Degree in Nursing or related field, with at least three (3) years’ experience in a family/public-oriented service delivery system.
  • Human Relations and Management skills.
  • Experience in dealing with health professionals.
  • Possess Liability Insurance.
  • Have a valid Oklahoma Driver’s License and transportation available.
  • Must meet all applicable requirements established by state and funding sources to include finger printing.
  • Meet required Work Environment standards.


DESIRED:

  • RN Degree - Pediatric Nurse Practitioner .
  • Experience in a comprehensive pre-school program.

The Community Action Agency of OKC/Oklahoma County was established in 1966, and initially was financed by the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964, which launched the nation’s “War on Poverty.” Eventually the funding was consolidated into the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG). The Community Services division was implemented early on, serving low-income residents of Oklahoma County. Early programs included implementing the Food Stamp program and offering a nutrition program for seniors at meal centers.Today the division has greatly expanded to offer legal assistance; tax assistance; summer youth programs; senior transportation to meal sites, medical appointments, and shopping; rent and mortgage assistance; and other community needs.HEAD STARTThe Agency’s first Head Start center opened its doors to 39 families in 1965. Within two years, nine new centers and 575 children entered Head Start in Oklahoma County. Today we have 26 Head Start classrooms in 15 public schools, and 98 Head Start classrooms total providing services to thousands of children in Oklahoma County.
