Job Overview

Kitchen Guard Technician

Location: Provo, UT

Reports To: Service Technician

Position Overview

The Kitchen Guard Technician is responsible for installing, inspecting, servicing, and maintaining commercial kitchen fire suppression systems. This role ensures compliance with NFPA standards, OSHA regulations, and local fire codes, while delivering excellent customer service and representing Kitchen Guard with professionalism.

Technicians play a critical role in protecting clients’ businesses, employees, and customers by ensuring that kitchen fire suppression systems are reliable, effective, and code-compliant.

Key ResponsibilitiesService & Installation

• Perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs of kitchen fire suppression systems.
• Install new systems in accordance with NFPA standards, manufacturer specifications, and local fire codes.
• Replace or recharge system components including cylinders, piping, nozzles, and detection devices.
• Conduct functional tests to verify system readiness and compliance.

Compliance & Safety

• Ensure all work meets NFPA standards, OSHA regulations, and jurisdictional requirements.
• Maintain accurate documentation of inspections, service work, and system certifications.
• Follow all safety protocols, including use of PPE and safe handling of pressurized equipment.

Customer Service

• Communicate clearly with customers about inspection results, system performance, and required repairs.
• Provide education on system use and compliance requirements.
• Represent Kitchen Guard professionally and build trust with clients.

Operations & Reporting

• Complete work orders and inspection reports in a timely and accurate manner.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicle in safe working condition.
• Report inventory needs, system issues, or site hazards to management.
• Support team members and collaborate to meet service schedules.

Qualifications

• Experience: 1–3 years in fire suppression, life safety, or related field preferred (will train the right candidate).
• Education/Certifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• NICET certification in Special Hazards or Fire Suppression (preferred, not required).
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Skills:
• Basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting ability.
• Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Comfort working in commercial kitchens, rooftops, and confined spaces.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift 50+ pounds.
• Willing and able to work nights.
• Ability to climb ladders, bend, stoop, and work in elevated or tight spaces.
• Work on top of roofs.
