Are you a skilled, dependable cook looking for better work-life balance? LaClare Creamery is looking for a full time Kitchen Operations Lead to join our fast paced, fun work environment! Working week days and every other weekend, our Kitchen Operations Lead will lead operations in the café.

Reports to: Retail Manager

Overall Responsibilities: Leads operations in the café kitchen ensuring strict compliance to the highest food safety standards. Duties also include kitchen staff training, inventory management and replenishment, event support, preparation and cooking-to-order a variety of foods, and plating dishes in an attractive way to serve a quality product to our guests.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for strict compliance to the highest food safety standards as set forth by law and the company.
  • Maintain accurate logs of cleaning schedules, inspections, and maintenance for audits and regulatory compliance.
  • Clean food preparation equipment, dishes, work areas, and counters or tables to ensure the kitchen is cleaned to high store standards.
  • Inspect supplies, equipment, and work areas to ensure efficient service and conformance to standards.
  • Train new staff in food preparation and food safety requirements.
  • Recommend measures for improving work procedures and worker performance to increase service quality and enhance job safety.
  • Maintain professionalism and create a positive team environment, including during peak demand times.
  • Responsible for kitchen inventory management including ordering of food, beverages, and supplies needed in the café.
  • Purchase or requisition supplies and equipment needed to ensure quality and timely delivery of services.
  • Responsible for keeping accurate inventory of food items.
  • Restock kitchen supplies, rotate food adhering to FIFO standards, and stamp the time and date on food in coolers.
  • Prepare food for our customers – made to order based on Retail menu, event menus and specials.
  • Plan work on orders so that items served together are finished at the same time.
  • Record and evaluate ticket times for continuous improvement.
  • Prepare and evaluate event menu costs for current market trends.
  • Communicate to manager and team on stock and availability and any substitutions on café menu items.
  • Assist in resolving customer complaints regarding food service.
  • Works under the direct supervision of the Retail Manager.
  • Effectively promotes Company values and culture drivers.
  • Perform all duties in a safe manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills & Attributes

  • Servsafe Certification or is willing to obtain upon hire.
  • Is knowledgeable about retail operations and can perform tasks as needed.
  • Has an understanding of food safety and implementing food safety protocols, such as proper handling, storage, preparation of food, and preventing cross contamination.
  • Performs physical activities that require considerable amounts of standing, walking, lifting 5 – 25 lbs, bending, and squatting while handling materials.
  • Food Production — Knowledge of techniques and equipment for food preparation and cooking including storage/handling techniques.
  • Customer and Personal Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing excellent customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Point-of-sale POS software.
  • Active Listening — Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Service Orientation — Actively looking for ways to help people.
  • Time Management — Managing one's own time and the time of others.
