Schedule:
- 8-hour shift
- 2nd & 3rd shifts Open / 11pm-7am or 3pm-11pm
Expected Hours: 45 – 55 per week / some weekend work
Job Summary:
Maintenance Technicians are responsible for performing repair and maintenance on all equipment in the plant. This position routinely requires moderate to extreme physical exertion and may require prolonged standing, bending, kneeling, squatting, and working in awkward positions. The hours and physical demand may vary.
Responsibilities:
- Perform all duties in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.
- Perform all preventative maintenance duties to equipment.
- Continually monitor machinery and make necessary adjustment(s) to ensure proper operation.
- Perform all levels of welding and mechanical repairs to industrial machinery present in material recovery facilities (MRF).
- Repair and possible fabrication of conveyors and component parts.
- Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Company and OSHA standards.
- Complete all paperwork and/or electronic updates as required.
- Regular use of heavy industrial shop tools and equipment.
- Professional interaction with internal and external customers.
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere by performing and communicating in a manner that promotes good relationships with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Has working knowledge of VFD’s.
- PLC knowledge is a plus but not required.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Pump and valve knowledge is a plus.
- Be a team player.
- Must be able to troubleshoot up to 3 phase 480v electrical.
- Must be preventative maintenance oriented.
- Ability to perform physical requirements of the job (prolonged physical exertions, including standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, kneeling, climbing and working in awkward positions and tight areas).
- Must possess good working knowledge with all levels of welding and cutting equipment required to perform industrial maintenance welding and fabrication.
- Must be able to recognize and avoid electrical hazards.
- Must be familiar with electrical PPE such as arc flash suit, insulated gloves and tools.
- Must have the skills to properly use voltage test equipment.
- Must have the skills to identify exposed energized electrical components and conductors
- Must have the skills to determine the nominal voltage of exposed energized electrical components and conductors
- Must understand and identify the applicable approach distance for the voltage in which they will be exposed (NFPA 70 E Tables)
- Must possess the decision-making ability to determine the level of hazard, proper PPE and job planning to safely perform the task
- Ability to obtain certificate to operate powered industrial lift trucks.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions.
- Good written and verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers.
- Must possess necessary tools to perform assigned tasks.
- Familiarity with using a computer.
- Additional skills may be required to perform additional task(s) specific to work location.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must successfully complete pre-employment testing.
- Must be able to read and speak the English language well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and safety training.
Working Conditions:
- Exposure to noise, heat, dust, fumes and chemicals i.e. caustics and acids as found in a food production environment.
- Exposure to extreme weather conditions possible.
- Heavy lifting and prolonged standing.
- Twisting, turning and bending.
- Wet environments.
