Job Title: Medical Assistant (Phlebotomy/Blood Drawing)

Location: Ave Suite , Annapolis, MD 21401

Job Type: Contract (W2)

Reports To: Physician

Shift Timing: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST, Monday to Friday

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant with phlebotomy experience to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for drawing blood from patients for lab tests and procedures, preparing specimens for transport, and assisting in clinical and administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform venipuncture and capillary blood draws safely and accurately
• Label and process blood specimens according to lab protocols
• Prepare specimens for transport to external laboratories
• Verify patient identity and ensure proper documentation of procedures
• Maintain clean and sterile phlebotomy equipment and workstations
• Assist healthcare providers with clinical duties such as taking vital signs, preparing exam rooms, and administering injections
• Handle patient inquiries with professionalism and care
• Maintain accurate medical records and update electronic health records (EHR)
• Follow all OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control policies
• Support front-office operations as needed, including scheduling and patient check-in

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Completion of a certified Medical Assistant or Phlebotomy training program
• Current CPR/BLS certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
• 1+ year of experience in blood drawing preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to handle blood and bodily fluids with care and professionalism
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Work Environment:

• Clinical/Medical office or hospital setting
• May require standing for long periods and occasional lifting
