Job Description

Akkodis is seeking an Inspector, Quality Control for a 9 -month contract with a client in Portland, OR 97224.

Title: Inspector, Quality Control

Location: Portland, OR 97224

Contract: 9-month contract

Pay Rate : $24-$26/hr (The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.)

Shift: 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM and 2:30 PM TO 11:00 PM

Job Requirements & Skills

  • Proficient in speaking and reading English without the need for translation support.
  • Able to write clearly and legibly in English.
  • Experienced in using an optical microscope for extended periods for visual inspection tasks.
  • Capable of performing unaided visual inspections (corrected vision acceptable) at a distance of 12–18 inches.
  • Able to operate both automated and manual equipment , requiring correctable vision and color discrimination.
  • Skilled in performing dimensional inspections using rulers and basic measurement tools as per instruction documentation.
  • Comfortable working with production equipment , including hand tools, test devices, and precision instruments.
  • Capable of organizing and recording dimensional data on paper-based forms.
  • Able to assess and determine the disposition of rejected parts using documented inspection criteria.
  • Willing and able to sit for long durations as required by the role.
  • Able to work in a controlled cleanroom environment , following all gowning protocols (gown, gloves, hair/beard cover, no makeup, candy/gum, etc.).
  • Capable of working in an environment with minor exposure to isopropyl alcohol .
  • Demonstrated fine motor skills and manual dexterity in both hands (e.g., using cutters, tweezers, handling small components).
  • Knowledgeable in product assembly techniques and processes , with skill sets validated by Engineering or QA/Production leads.
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance as per work schedule.
  • Willing to perform regularly scheduled overtime , with total work hours not exceeding 60 hours/week.
  • Strong in multitasking, prioritization, and meeting deadlines with excellent organizational and follow-up abilities.
  • High attention to detail in both individual and collaborative work environments.

Desired Experience

  • Prior experience in assembly or quality inspection of Class II/III medical devices or micro-electronic components .
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in medical device assembly or inspection or a related field.
  • Prior work experience in a cleanroom-controlled, air-conditioned manufacturing setting is required.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, inspection notes, and layouts .
  • Comfortable using small hand tools , with demonstrated eye-hand coordination and skill in handling precision parts .
  • Ability to contribute independently while working as part of a production team .
  • Strong verbal and written communication , interpersonal, organizational, and basic math skills .

Education Requirement

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
