Job Description

Our client, a rapidly growing company in the aerospace sector, specializes in designing and manufacturing advanced satellite platforms for government and commercial customers. They provide end-to-end solutions, from spacecraft development and payload integration to launch coordination and mission operations. As they expand their satellite production capabilities, they are seeking a skilled RF Engineer to contribute to the design, testing, and optimization of next-generation RF communication systems for space applications.

What You'll Do

• Serve as the go-to expert for RF communications, ensuring mission objectives are met through thorough analysis and design.
• Conduct detailed assessments of RF system performance, defining and refining hardware requirements with vendors.
• Optimize and enhance RF link designs to support reliable communication between satellites and ground stations.
• Work on solutions that scale for high-volume satellite manufacturing, leveraging automation and advanced RF modeling.
• Troubleshoot and resolve challenges in RF performance, including on-orbit anomaly investigations and system validation.
• Develop and refine internal analysis tools to improve efficiency and accuracy in RF simulations.
• Provide input on key technical milestones, including preliminary and critical design reviews.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and support efforts to enhance system robustness and security.
• Offer mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.

What You Bring

• A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, or a closely related field.
• At least 7 years of RF engineering experience (10+ years for Principal level), ideally within satellite communications.
• Strong understanding of RF system design, including space-to-ground and inter-satellite communication links.
• Proficiency in designing and analyzing antennas, amplifiers, and digital communication systems.
• Familiarity with common modulation and coding techniques used in satellite networks.
• Hands-on experience with RF testing tools, such as vector network analyzers and spectrum analyzers.
• Ability to script and automate tasks using Python, MATLAB, or similar programming languages.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to tackling technical challenges.
• Must be eligible for or willing to obtain a DoD Security Clearance .

Bonus Points For

• Experience in systems engineering, particularly in breaking down requirements for large-scale satellite networks.
• Knowledge of interference analysis and coverage-based link budgeting for multi-user communication architectures.
• Hands-on experience with electromagnetic simulation tools like Ansys HFSS .
• Background in advanced RF applications such as signal intelligence, secure waveforms, or anti-jamming technologies.
• Familiarity with military RF standards, encrypted communication protocols, and network configuration.
• Active DoD TS/SCI Clearance is a plus.
