Job Title: Safety Coordinator (Construction)

Location: San Diego

Compensation: $85,000 - $99,000 annually

Direct Hire

Position Overview

Ultimate Staffing is seeking a proactive and experienced Safety Coordinator to support and enhance the safety culture across construction projects for a construction company in San Diego. This role will be responsible for executing safety programs, delivering training, and ensuring full compliance with OSHA and Cal-OSHA standards on active jobsites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Champion and enforce company safety policies at all worksites
  • Lead and facilitate safety training sessions, including New Hire Orientation and Competent Person certification courses (e.g., Confined Space, Fall Protection, Trenching)
  • Conduct on-site safety audits and produce detailed documentation and assessments
  • Maintain and update all safety records, documentation, and compliance logs
  • Respond promptly to incidents and lead thorough accident investigations
  • Provide real-time support during high-risk operations (e.g., crane lifts)
  • Serve as a trusted resource for field teams, offering coaching and mentoring on safe work practices
  • Develop professional relationships with client representatives, fostering mutual trust and collaboration
  • Continuously reinforce and apply company safety standards and best practices
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in safety , preferably in commercial or industrial construction
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and Cal-OSHA requirements and practices
  • Prior experience leading safety trainings and accident investigations
  • Strong knowledge of injury documentation
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities across multiple project sites
  • Discretion and professionalism in handling sensitive information
  • Willingness to travel regularly within San Diego county and on occasion to Los Angeles

Preferred Certifications

  • OSHA 500 Certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification
  • Competent Person Trainer certification is a plus
