Job Description

Our client specializes in delivering cutting-edge heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) solutions spanning the entire lifecycle of commercial systems. The business focuses on helping customers enhance building comfort, improve energy efficiency, and lower the total cost of ownership. We are now looking for a strategic and results-driven Director of Sales to lead the efforts of their busy, growing, and highly successful sales team.

Richmond, VA.

$150-180K base with $200-250K OTE plus excellent benefits package.

To be successful in this role:

You will be an experienced and confident Director of Sales with expertise in HVAC, Building Automation, and Owner Direct sales. You will thrive in fast-paced environments, excel in relationship-building, and have a proven track record of driving sales success. Other requirements for this role include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of sales leadership experience in the HVAC industry (preferred)
  • Strong strategic planning, negotiation, and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Exceptional presentation and customer relationship skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general PC skills
  • Self-motivated, independent, and results-oriented mindset

Job role and responsibilities:

As Director of Sales, you will be responsible for developing and executing strategic sales plans to drive revenue and market share growth. Other responsibilities for this role include:

  • Identifying new business opportunities and expanding market penetration
  • Leading and mentoring Account Managers and Sales Engineers to optimize team performance
  • Strengthening technical expertise within the sales team to improve solution-based selling
  • Recruiting, hiring, and developing top-tier sales talent
  • Tracking KPIs and sales metrics to assess and enhance sales performance
  • Cultivating and maintaining strong client relationships
  • Handling high-level customer escalations and devising strategies to expand the client base
  • Expanding industry partnerships and strengthening the company’s presence in the market
  • Collaborating with internal teams to drive business growth across various sales channels
  • Enhancing the "Connected Services" approach to improve client satisfaction, energy efficiency, and system uptime
  • Implementing streamlined sales processes to maximize efficiency and effectiveness
  • Continuously evaluating and refining sales strategies to maintain a competitive edge
