Job Description
Main Function: Responsible for supervising the efficient operation of the Parts, Warehouse, and Logistics team through proper purchasing, inventory control, pricing, and personnel supervision to ensure meeting company profitability goals, service schedules, and company objectives while promoting company reliability and maintaining customer satisfaction.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the general direction of the Operations Manager, directs and coordinates the purchasing and distribution of parts and materials for contractual obligations, quoted work, emergency requests, and warehouse stock. Responsible for Inventory, Purchasing, Distribution, and Logistics processes.
- Supervises and assists with all purchase tracking and receiving for our main warehouse as well as direct shipments to our customers, vendors, and field technicians.
- Responsible for purchase order oversight for all purchase orders created for purchases made by the Parts Department and assist with purchase order creation and review for purchases authorized by other departments.
- Ensures truck restocking requests for our field technicians' parts and cores returned from the field are all processed properly.
- Reevaluates and maintains purchasing procedures to ensure they are in line with company goals and approval processes.
- Researches and identifies alternate vendors and identify and negotiate additional services, programs, and pricing with existing vendors to reduce product cost, reduce shipment times, lower freight cost, and improve logistical reach for all purchasing needs.
- Directs and coordinates the purchasing of warehouse supplies.
- Oversees the updating of system notes and work statuses to reflect order fulfillment status.
- Oversees and assists preparation and fulfillment of all parts required for distribution to the field including interfacing closely with the Service Manager, Service Sales Team, and Field Service Supervisors to ensure orders are fulfilled in a timely manner.
- Ensures that part transfers in and out of Canton location are performed.
- Sets and maintains warehouse stock levels to be in line with item demand and identify overstock items that may be returned for credit or sold outside our existing customer base.
- Establishes consistent part naming and numbering conventions for all items and ensures all items and shelves reflect these standards.
- Organizes and maintains neatness and locational accuracy of all items in warehouse.
- Sets and maintains inventory controls and maintains inventory records for all items in electronic database.
- Performs scheduled cycle counts and full warehouse inventories to ensure accuracy of recorded on hand part quantities.
- Utilizing all available resources, identifies and adds to inventory previously unrecognized or non-inventoried items.
- Establishes pricing for all parts, including creating price lists, to promote consistency and maximum profitability for all items.
- Assists technicians, Service Sales team, and other members of Operations with part research as well as part number identification and cross referencing.
- Promotes direct parts sales through customer contact, on-line selling, and other appropriate means.
- Runs, reviews, and reacts to inventory, aging, and purchasing reports.
- Works closely with accounting for purchasing review/approval and inventory valuation.
- Develops and implements annual and further reaching part and purchasing plans.
- Responsible for developing creative and strategic logistical solutions in support of FM field staff.
- Ensures all materials and resources (tools, parts, equipment) are available and properly staged for use in completion of assigned work.
- Responsible for scheduling the transportation, tracking, and timely transferring of inventory from Canton office to remote warehouses, as well as transfers to assigned personnel.
- Accountable for staging and logistics of rental equipment, load banks, and all related components.
- Responsible for recruiting, training, mentoring, and managing daily schedule for Parts, Shop, and Logistics team members.
- Conducts on-going and Quarterly reviews, establishes and monitors productivity, customer service and work performance standards, and discipline as necessary all assigned staff.
- Performs other additional duties as necessary or assigned.
Key Competencies:
- An electromechanical aptitude is strongly preferred.
- Adept with electronic inventory, purchasing, and receiving components of industry software.
- Ability to work in a high paced, hands-on environment while also being able to effectively work on time intensive projects.
- Friendly and timely correspondence with internal staff and external customers and vendors.
- A strong team player—must be able to work with peers to fulfill parts needs and assist Operations Manager with his grasp of companywide inventory for logistical and valuation purposes.
- Conversance with industry materials—ability to identify and understand the value and application of parts.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent experience preferred.
- Five plus years of strong supervisory and/or management experience or relevant hands-on purchasing, inventory and/or logistics experience required.
- Specific experience supporting any one of the following fields: automotive parts, industrial/process machinery, commercial HVAC/refrigeration, stationary or industrial engine driven, i.e. generator, air compressor, material handling equipment is strongly desirable.
- Valid Mass DOT Card to enable forklift operation certification.
