Job Description

Position Overview

The Agency Relations & Long-Term Care Specialist will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of care for claimant families enrolled in the Virginia Birth-Related Neurological Injury Compensation Program. This position will provide a range of services to build relations and provide a high level of long-term care to those with Birth-Related neurological injuries. The position manages claimant relationships, process improvements, and vendor relationships. It ensures efficient and effective program outcomes and is responsible for the overall safety of individuals in this program. The Agency Relations & Long-Term Care Specialist position is Exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop effective and efficient long-term care plans while providing a high level of positive relations with claimants.
  • Provide access and tenancy sustaining support, connecting to benefit programs, education regarding compliance, and legal resources for successful living.
  • Assist enrollees with preferences, budgeting or referral to aid programs that support access. Assist with completion of documents in accordance with guidelines and fair housing requirements.
  • Oversee the tracking, utilization, and maintenance of what may be needed for successful long-term care to meet the needs of claimants.
  • Serve as a liaison with consultants, property management companies, and local agencies.
  • Maintain and update policy and procedure documentation and changes.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external parties and agencies providing service claimants enrolled in the Program.

Qualifications:

  • High tolerance and respect for individuals with disabilities, while promoting harm reduction strategies.
  • Excellent listening and interpersonal skills and ability to establish rapport within diverse audiences.
  • Some experience in crisis intervention/de-escalation is preferred.
  • Ability to provide positive guidance, to multitask, and manage competing priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and with teams to manage housing policy issues.
  • Must possess/maintain a valid Virginia driver’s license with a positive point balance.

Education & Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, human services, or a closely related field preferred.
  • 2+ years’ work-related experience in the areas of neurodevelopmental disorders with children, other patients, and/or families.
  • Experience working with non-profit or other community-facing centers in a medical related field preferred.
  • Previous childcare and/or positive interactions and guidance of youth and families in a child placing agency, medical, or residential facility is helpful.
  • Must maintain a high level of confidentiality and abide by HIPPA rules and regulations.
