Job Description

A rapidly growing and prestigous litigation law firm is searching for a highly experienced Litigation Legal Assistant. This role involves supporting litigation attorneys with various legal and administrative tasks, ensuring seamless operations and exceptional client service. Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare, revise, redline, and proofread various pleadings, correspondence, memoranda, motions, and briefs (Federal, State, and local level, including appellate), and generate tables of authorities and contents.
  • Manage litigation caseloads, communicate with courts, clients, witnesses, experts, and opposing counsel regarding hearings, depositions, trials, and meetings.
  • Possess working knowledge of e-filing procedures and requirements for Federal, State, and local courts.
  • Create and maintain client and administrative files per firm procedures, including within the document management system.
  • Schedule appointments, including meeting invites, video conference details, conference room requests, meal requests, etc., and maintain attorney's calendar.
  • Assist with the assembly, production, and tracking of discovery requests and responses, depositions, exhibits, trial binders, and trial preparation.
  • Enter and release attorney's billable time according to firm guidelines.
  • Perform initial conflict checks, open/close client matters, and prepare engagement letters.
  • Monitor case deadlines and work with the Docket Department to ensure deadlines are entered and met.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements and track travel expenses for timely reimbursement.
  • Communicate professionally and promptly with internal and external clients to deliver high-level customer service.

Qualifications

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously, work well with others, and possess excellent communication skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word), TOC, TOA, Styles, and PDF software.
  • Experience with InTapp Time, Intapp Open, Chrome River Expense Reporting, Aderant, Interaction, iManage are pluses.
  • Must possess an excellent customer service attitude.

Case Preparation & Management
Assist attorneys in preparing for trials, hearings, and depositions by organizing case files and documents.

Document Drafting & Formatting
Draft and format legal documents such as pleadings, motions, discovery, and correspondence.

Calendar & Deadline Management
Track case deadlines, court dates, and ensure all filings are submitted in a timely manner.

Client & Court Liaison
Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel to coordinate schedules and obtain necessary documents.

Discovery Support
Assist with gathering, organizing, and reviewing discovery materials, including depositions, expert reports, and evidence.

E-filing & Court Submissions
Prepare and submit electronic filings, ensuring compliance with local court rules and procedures.

Research & Case Analysis
Perform legal research and assist attorneys with analysis, case strategy, and trial preparation.

Trial Preparation
Assist in preparing trial binders, exhibits, and witness lists, ensuring everything is in order for the courtroom.

Maintain Confidentiality
Handle sensitive legal documents and information with strict adherence to confidentiality agreements and privacy laws.

Post-Trial Support
Assist with post-trial motions, appeals, and other follow-up legal processes.
