NJT Automation is a Milwaukee-based company focused on delivering innovative solutions in the automation space. We’re currently expanding our technical team to develop a new online platform from the ground up. This is an opportunity to shape a product at its earliest stages — from architecture decisions to deployment.

What You’ll Do

• Build the core application with Next.js (TypeScript) for client/server rendering.
• Design and implement APIs (REST, GraphQL, or tRPC) for platform features (user onboarding, listings, communication, etc.).
• Manage a relational database (PostgreSQL/MySQL) with Prisma or similar.
• Integrate NextAuth.js (or Auth0) for secure authentication and role-based access.
• Implement file uploads (e.g., S3) within user flows.
• Contribute to the messaging system for real-time interaction.
• Participate in architecture discussions to ensure security, scalability, and maintainability.
• Potentially integrate payment solutions in later phases.
• Iterate quickly with the product team, refining features and delivering a robust MVP.

Requirements

• Proficient with Next.js (SSR/SSG) and TypeScript .
• Comfortable designing/building REST/GraphQL or tRPC APIs.
• Skilled with PostgreSQL/MySQL and ORM tools (Prisma or similar).
• Experienced with NextAuth.js or Auth0 for authentication.
• Familiar with S3 (or equivalent) for file uploads.
• Up to date and productive with AI coding tools.
• Strong Git /CI/CD skills (Vercel, GitHub Actions).
• Effective communicator who aligns technical decisions with business goals.

Bonus

• Real-time features (WebSockets, Socket.IO, or Pusher).
• UI/UX with Tailwind CSS , MUI, or similar.
• Payment integrations (Stripe, PayPal, etc.).
• Marketplace or platform-building experience.
